If we have learned that we are uniquely created to be able to analyze and even change our moods, emotions and thought processes we have taken the first step in self awareness. Now we can examine our individual paradigms and determine if they have been created by reactivity or proactivity.

We must come to realize that not everything that is said to us or done to us is a result of what we truly are. Others project their own inadequecies, confines, emotions, learning experiences (right or wrong), etc., on to us from the time we are born. However, we have the God-given ability to either accept of reject what is projected on to us by utilizing self awareness. For example when we hear from another, "You will never amount to anything," we are then at a point where we become either reactive or proactive.

When we are reactive, our countenance changes - first surprise and then sadness. The knife begins to turn within us inflicting emotional pain and we either withdraw or attack...

If we are proactive, countenance does not change - we think through the statement and realize that common sense dictates that a life-time behaviour cannot be determined by another's assessment. We can then conclude that the person speaking to us has most likely projected his or her own self limitations and weaknesses upon us and is unable to see his or her own true potential and consequently that of others. Finally, the words spoken over us are then rejected by our own thought process because they are inaccurate and they do not enter our programming system.

Those who are reactive see only a badly distorted image of themselves similar to the distorted image seen in a fun house mirror on a midway. Those who are proactive see an accurate image and operate accordingly.
